Our preschool consists of children age three (and “potty-trained”) to six. These children are really ready to learn and have fun doing it!

Children’s Haven offers a “whole language” curriculum that includes language arts, finger plays, arts and crafts, social studies, science, math, reading readiness, music and movement. It is specifically designed by our curriculum coordinator who develops this curriculum on a weekly basis. Activities included in this curriculum focus on number concepts, perceptual skills and pre-writing skills such as tracing, completing patterns and reproducing patterns. These are combined with activities for small motor development such as cutting, pasting and using crayons or pencils. Our goal is to help children develop a foundation for basic math, reading and writing skills.

We also allow plenty of time for children to learn during their own self-directed play. Important lessons these children learn from interacting with one another include cooperation, sharing, turn-taking and problem-solving.

Each summer our preschool children enjoy weekly field trips and other fun activities such as “splash days”, sand castle building, nature walks, picnics, petting zoos, the “jumping castle”, face painting, bike days, field day, puppet shows, classroom visitors, and more in addition to our regular activities.
